Waupun resident Erin Lechner received the 2002 Vatican II Award for Distinguished Young Adult Service to the Church during a special prayer service at the Archbishop Cousins Catholic Center on Sept. 26

 

 

 

 

MILWAUKEE -Waupun resident Erin Lechner received the 2002 Vatican II Award for Distinguished Young Adult" Service to the Church during a special prayer service at the Archbishop Cousins Catholic Center on September 26.

Milwaukee Auxiliary Bishop Richard J. Sklba recognized Lechner for her devotion and commitment to her church and her faith. She has served her church as a lector and acolyte. She organizes the Christmas youth orchestra and plays the piano at Saturday evening Mass. She has led 3rd and 4th grade religious instruction and helped as a catechism teacher. Last year she traveled to the Dominican Republic ona Mission Trip. Lechner is a freshman at Marquette University studying secondary education. She is a parishioner at St. Joseph Parish.

"Erin's involvement in the global youth mission has set a tremendous example for other young people in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee," said Bishop Sklba during the award presentation.

The Vatican II Award for Distinguished Service recipients represent 10 categories and were chosen becauseihey exemplify the Second Vatican Council's vision of laity, priests and religious working together to make unique and integrated contributions to the mission of Christ. This was the second year that young adults were recognized for their enthusiasm and commitment. The VaticanIl Awards forDistinguished
