Pastoral Council Meeting

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

7:00p.m. Fellowship Hall, St. Joseph's

 

Present: Father Michael Wild, Doyle Pokorny, Tom Smith, Arlene Wetzel, Michael DeBaere, Justin Seidler, Lori VanBuren, Pat Koll, Karen Madigan, Patrick Schomisch, Linda Zeininger

 

Absent: Loretta Lechner, Janine Ramsey

 

Opening Prayer: Father Michael Wild

 

Minutes reviewed with no additions or corrections

 

There were no parishioners or guests

 

Committee Reports:

 

Christian Formation December, January and February meetings

 

Christmas program was 12-18-13, well attended

Kids bulletin being used

Mardi Gras fun night tabled for now

Discussion about youth/family involvement in Mass. Hoping for involvement during the Lenten season

 

Prayer and Worship January meeting

 

Inspirational books for adults and children will be available

Stations will take place on Fridays at 4:30p.m. during Lent

St. Joseph's table Mass will be March 19 at 5p.m. with a potluck to follow

 

Human Concerns January and February meetings

 

Community Day of Prayer will be at St. Joseph's Friday, March 7

Choirs Who Care will be March 9 at First Reformed Church at 2:00p.m.

The Friesland Singers will hold a concert at St. Joseph's March 23. The SVDP will receive the free will offering.

Golden Club continues to meet

SVDP had 23 referrals with 21 assists

Valentines for approx. 70 of our home bound and nursing home residents were delivered or sent out by the religious ed. Students

 

Old Business:

We are not getting anywhere with merging the parishes. The Faith in our Future money is part of the problem. This needs to be spent on the sources it was given for before we can move on. There was a discussion about St. Mary's spending their money for siding for the church. Karen will get estimates and submit to Father. St. Brendan's would like to purchase TV and equipment for the Religious Ed. Program with some of their funds.

 

New Business:

Father John Schmitz is willing to do the Holy Week services for St. Joseph's again this year.

Holy Thursday will be at 7:00p.m.

Good Friday will be at 1:00p.m.

Holy Saturday will be at 8:00p.m.

Easter Sunday will be at 10:30a.m.

A priest from St. Catherine Drexel will continue to help us out on Saturdays. Mass at St. Brendan's will continue on the last Sunday of February, March, April and May. St. Mary's will have the last Sunday Mass during June, July and August.

Lori VanBuren, an outgoing council member, will start the process for council member replacement.
